Beware of ‘Depth’ That Is as an Iron Pin

January 1, 2025 AURELIS No Comments

Depth should be like a cloud, enveloping you as a haze ― not piercing your soul like an iron pin.

This is part of the series ‘A Journey through 12 AURELIS Metaphors.’ For an introduction to this series and a list of the 12 metaphors, click here.

Imagine two forms of depth: one is a sharp iron pin, piercing deeply but with pain and damage. The other is a soft, cloud-like haze, touching you gently, surrounding you with kindness. The pin demands change, forcing its way inward. The cloud invites change, leaving space for it to unfold naturally. One creates wounds; the other fosters growth.

This metaphor cautions against shallow or harmful attempts to reach depth. True depth is gentle and respectful, allowing the deeper self to bloom in its own time. When depth is forced or misused — whether in personal growth, relationships, or practices like autosuggestion — it can harm the very core it seeks to touch.

The danger of the iron pin

Depth that acts like an iron pin can take many forms. It may involve aggressive self-help techniques, manipulative motivation, or even well-meaning but poorly executed attempts at introspection. These methods may achieve short-term effects but often leave behind scars — resistance, emotional numbness, or even deeper wounds.

True depth requires openness, trust, and care. It cannot be coerced or rushed. Like the cloud, it supports and invites without imposing. It respects the total self, recognizing that meaningful change must come from within.

AURELIS and the invitation to true depth

An AurelisOnLine session is designed to act like the cloud — a gentle invitation to your deeper self. It respects your natural rhythms and creates space for depth to emerge without force. By fostering this respectful interaction, AURELIS helps you avoid the pitfalls of the iron pin, allowing change to happen in a kind, sustainable way.

This approach values the quality of depth, ensuring it nurtures rather than harms. It encourages trust in your inner nature, aligning conscious effort with subconscious processes for authentic growth.

Exploring together with Lisa

Lisa, your AURELIS companion, can help you recognize and cultivate true depth. She might ask:

  • “Have you ever felt pressured into change, like an iron pin piercing your soul?”
  • “What would it feel like to let depth touch you gently, like a cloud?”

Lisa’s guidance helps you distinguish between harmful and nurturing depth, empowering you to choose the latter.

Take a moment to reflect:

  1. Think of a time when you felt overwhelmed or hurt by forced change. How did it affect you?
  2. Now imagine being enveloped by a cloud of kindness and care. How does this shift your perspective?

Try this short Compassionate Affirmation:
“I welcome depth as a gentle cloud. It nurtures me, respects me, and invites me to grow in my own way.”

Hello, and welcome. In this session, we’ll explore the nature of true depth — depth that is gentle, kind, and nurturing. True depth doesn’t force or demand change; instead, it invites growth in a way that feels natural and safe. Let’s take this journey together, with no need for effort or pressure.

Take a moment to find a comfortable position. Let your hands rest gently, and when you’re ready, close your eyes. Begin with a deep breath in… hold it softly… and exhale, releasing any tension you might be carrying. Let’s do this two more times. With each breath, allow your body and mind to relax a little more, opening up to this experience.

Now, imagine a sharp iron pin. It pierces deeply, pushing its way inward. The pin represents depth that is harsh, invasive, and demanding. Its presence creates tension, discomfort, and even pain. You may feel its pressure, forcing its way into places that aren’t ready. Take a moment to notice how this feels. It’s okay if you feel resistance — this reaction is natural.

But now, let the pin begin to dissolve. Its harsh edges soften and fade. In its place, imagine a soft, light cloud. The cloud surrounds you gently, like a haze. It doesn’t push or force its way inward. Instead, it rests lightly, touching you here and there. The cloud represents depth that is kind and respectful. It invites you to relax, to let go, and to grow in your own time.

Feel the difference between the pin and the cloud. The pin creates sharpness and tension, while the cloud nurtures and soothes. Let the cloud envelop you completely now, wrapping you in its softness. It doesn’t demand anything from you. It simply offers a safe, supportive presence, allowing you to explore and grow as you feel ready.

As you rest within the cloud, softly repeat these words to yourself:
“I welcome depth as a gentle cloud. It nurtures me, respects me, and invites me to grow in my own way.I trust the process of natural growth.”

Say it again, letting the words resonate deeply within you:
“I welcome depth as a gentle cloud. It nurtures me, respects me, and invites me to grow in my own way.I trust the process of natural growth.”

Feel these words settle into your mind like seeds, planted gently by the cloud. Trust that they will grow naturally, in their own time. There’s no need to rush or force anything. Allow this moment of gentle depth to strengthen and comfort you.

Now, begin to bring your awareness back to your body. Feel the surface beneath you, the air around you. Take a final deep breath in… and as you exhale, carry this sense of gentle depth and trust into your day. When it feels right, open your eyes slowly, bringing this peaceful connection with you.

Thank you for being here. Take care.
