Autosuggestion in Mental Pattern Recognition and Completion
Cognitive neuroscience increasingly proves the mind/brain to be a prediction machine. This points to the immense possibilities of autosuggestion.
Please read about the predictive brain. An excellent scientific book about this is The Experience Machine: How Our Minds Predict and Shape Reality, by Andy Clark (2023).
Pattern Recognition and Completion (PRC) is the way the brain works.
Science increasingly shows this in all sensory processing. Probably, the same happens at all higher and more integrated levels of the mind/brain inside and between communicating brain regions.
It is a general principle of how we think, feel, etc. Naturally, it’s also a component of how we communicate.
This way, the mind/brain greatly influences how itself perceives the environment ― even the environment within itself.
Thus shaping its own future perceptions and reactions, and using time and prior experience for this as needed, it can attain a higher degree of conceptual thinking ― be it at the expense of bias within the thinking itself.
On the other side, it also leads to more autosuggestive power. Autosuggestion is like nudging the prediction itself in a desired direction before it exerts its influence from within — therefore, in congruence with large swaths of the total person.
For instance, to quit smoking
If the goal is to quit smoking in a person-congruent way – without aggressively fighting the addiction – one may mold the related predictions through Lisa-coaching or AurelisOnLine sessions of autosuggestion.
If the smoker then encounters a pattern that otherwise would lead him to take a cigarette, the PRC now leads to the desired state of not wanting it anymore. This happens spontaneously, from the inside out, without any fight. At smoking time, the smoker consciously experiences to have lost the dire urge.
Being a gradual job, this can be repeated as much as needed. There is never a hopeless case.
Power of expectations
Science shows that the power of expectations (through PRC, with or without using a concrete placebo) is huge in many domains, including health-related ones.
This should not be underestimated. It shapes health positively and negatively to a much higher degree than most people fathom, with influences from the brain to the whole body. In short, your mind as cure.
One can go a step further toward seeking truth (= science). Noteworthy, and not surprisingly in the end, this is also a step toward human depth — a sometimes neglected part of the truth.
That step leads us to:
From autosuggestion to Compassion
If done correctly, autosuggestion is the language of Compassion and self-Compassion in catching the zest of deeper/broader mental-neuronal patterns.
This can be done on any occasion, even turning quit-smoking into a Compassionate endeavor — much more than the naked action of ‘not smoking anymore.’ Eventually, any human endeavor is prone to Compassion if approached with an Open attitude — nothing special, just plainly being who you are.
Of course, that is already very ‘special.’
Supporting this is the aim of AURELIS-autosuggestion.
From the inside out, in congruence with the total person ― therefore, an ethical stance (such as in five values) is crucial. That’s in-depth PRC for you. Self-Compassion makes you mentally grow, being more yourself than ever before.
It’s your choice.
