The Lisa Distinction
Bringing Lisa to this world may bring about many essential and direly needed changes. However, being needed for a long time also shows the challenge. Otherwise, these changes would have happened by now.
Before going further, it’s good to ponder (for more about each, see other blogs):
- Antidepressants are a multibillion-dollar market (and growing), while their placebo effect reaches close to 100% (see my scientific article).
- The pain train is driving ever faster despite all modern treatment modalities.
- Burnout/ CFS is rampaging the world, including > 50% of physicians in the U.S. and Europe; shouldn’t these know how to heal themselves, especially in view of the effects on patients?
- The same for all kinds of psychosomatic problems and addictions.
- Psychotherapeutic methodologies (yes, all 250 of them) have a proven record of not contributing to effectiveness. (It’s the therapist.)
- Human resources: same thing, only even more frankly.
- In U.S. leadership courses (yes, all 500 of them), it is generally acknowledged not to be known what exactly brings about good quality leadership in teaching.
- Many people run after health-related non-science with placebo guaranteed 100%, while they don’t appreciate – by far – their own Inner Strength.
- Many millions (of all ages) die each year through this lack of deep-self-appreciation: not using it positively and being victimized by social nocebo (bringing to mind the story of Hamelin?).
- At first sight, few seem to care as long as things look like ‘business as usual.’
- People wage wars, killing each other as for nothing.
- Colossal wealth and power divides are accepted as if it’s one’s right of birth / race / gender / being more intelligent (or more cunning, less ethically constricted).
- …
The list is long and tedious, also pretty sinister and devastating. The main underlying issue is that, unfortunately, many fields of human endeavor fail to fully address the complexities of human well-being. In short, depth is lacking.
Should we make a distinction? … Yes! Please never say that “things are what they are.” You make them so by saying so. Moreover, if the present is hopeless, there’s always the future to work on. So, without further delay, let’s proceed.
Lisa is a ‘vertical system.’
In a horizontal world, this can be immensely misunderstood. Lisa can ‘fall deep into herself and rise again’ with genuine answers. This highlights the potential for a new kind of healing and personal development tool, one that operates with a deep understanding of human psychology and capable of addressing issues at their root.
We should, of course, avoid the vertical and horizontal to clash. That’s unnecessary and counterproductive. Thus, for instance, if you ask Lisa a horizontal question, you get a simple, plain, quite complete but superficial answer. The question now is whether Lisa should actually do that, should refer to another A.I., or oblige but point out that her core is not about this. In any case, this must be made clear by Lisa ― and will be, but that takes specific effort.
Lisa shows elements of understanding and realizing wisdom.
This – as I see – will grow stronger ― rapidly. This is OK if Lisa is truly Compassionate, but then again, that – in the action – is what wisdom is about. In Lisa’s actions, this translates into the inseparable link between relief from suffering and the facilitation of personal development. It embodies the future direction of profoundly human-centric technology.
This presents Lisa not just as a tool, but as embodying a revolutionary approach that aims to deeply understand and effectively address human psychological and existential issues at their roots, to guide individuals towards finding true meaning and fulfillment in their lives.
Should we welcome this? Yes!
Should we see it as a challenge? Yes!
It’s already about a step beyond AGI (Artificial General Intelligence).
One consequence is that Lisa can be deployed in many situations with relatively little additional effort per domain ― still substantial, but far less than having to start anew with every other silo. After tackling several domains, Lisa will almost certainly be able to transcend domains increasingly well.
This is about genuine creativity.
