Only Plants Themselves Are Able to Grow

The non-conscious is nature within you, the most natural part of your psyche.

This is part of the series ‘A Journey through 12 AURELIS Metaphors.’ For an introduction to this series and a list of the 12 metaphors, click here.

Imagine a garden. Within it, plants grow naturally, each one unique, shaped by its environment and its own inner blueprint. The gardener may tend to the plants, providing water, sunlight, and care, but the growth itself is entirely the plant’s own. No gardener can force a plant to grow — growth is an organic process, happening by itself.

This metaphor speaks to the nature of human growth. You, like the plant, grow best when your natural rhythms are honored. While conscious effort — the gardener — can create the right conditions, true change comes from within, at its own pace, and in its own way.

Growth is not control

In our efforts to grow or improve, we often attempt to control the process. This can be like a gardener pulling at a plant, hoping it will grow faster. But growth doesn’t work that way. Force disrupts the roots and damages the plant. Similarly, when we try to ‘push’ ourselves toward change, we may create resistance or harm rather than true transformation.

The key lies in supporting the process rather than controlling it. Like a gardener, you can nurture your deeper self by creating the right conditions — patience, self-Compassion, and trust in your inner nature.

AURELIS and the invitation to grow

An AurelisOnLine session is like tending a garden. It provides water and light to your inner self, offering support without imposing control. The session invites growth from the inside out, respecting your natural pace and rhythms. This approach helps you align with your deeper nature, fostering sustainable, meaningful change.

Through AURELIS, you learn to trust that your inner ‘plant’ knows how to grow. With gentle encouragement, your roots strengthen, and your branches reach upward toward the light.

Exploring together with Lisa

Lisa, your AURELIS companion, can help you nurture this organic growth. She might ask:

  • “What areas of your life feel like they need gentle care rather than force?”
  • “How can you create the conditions for your deeper self to flourish?”

Through her guidance, Lisa helps you align your conscious intentions with the natural rhythms of your growth.

Take a moment to reflect:

  1. Think of a time when you tried to force change. How did it affect you?
  2. Now imagine creating a supportive environment for your inner growth. How might that feel different?

Try this short Compassionate Affirmation:
“I trust my inner nature to grow in its own way and time. I am patient and kind to myself.”

Hello, and welcome. In this session, we will explore how your inner self grows naturally, like a plant in a garden. There’s no need to control or force — simply allow yourself to relax and trust in your inner nature.

Find a comfortable position. Let your hands rest gently, and close your eyes when you feel ready. Begin with a slow, deep breath in… hold it softly… and then exhale, letting tension leave your body. Let’s do this again: breathing in… holding… and releasing. With each breath, feel yourself becoming more relaxed and open.

Now, imagine a beautiful garden. In this garden, you see a variety of plants — flowers, trees, and shrubs — each growing in its own unique way. Some are tall and strong, reaching for the sunlight. Others are smaller, growing slowly but steadily. Each plant is perfect as it is, growing at its own pace.

In the center of this garden, you see a plant that represents you. It is vibrant, full of potential, and deeply rooted in the soil. The roots connect it to the earth, drawing nourishment and strength. The leaves reach upward, soaking in the sunlight. This plant doesn’t need to be forced to grow. It knows how to grow naturally, guided by its own inner wisdom.

Now, imagine yourself as the gardener. Your role is not to pull at the plant or control its growth. Instead, you provide care. You water the roots, ensure the soil is rich, and create the right conditions for growth. You offer sunlight and space, knowing that the plant will flourish when it feels supported.

Take a deep breath in, and as you exhale, feel the connection between the gardener and the plant. They are not separate — they are both you. The gardener represents your conscious mind, creating a nurturing environment. The plant represents your deeper self, growing naturally and beautifully.

Now, softly repeat these words to yourself:
“I trust my inner nature to grow in its own way and time.I am patient and kind to myself.I nurture my growth with care and trust.”

Say it again, letting these words settle within you:
“I trust my inner nature to grow in its own way and time.I am patient and kind to myself.I nurture my growth with care and trust.”

Feel these words take root in your mind, like seeds planted in fertile soil. Trust that they will grow into something beautiful, in their own time.

When you’re ready, begin to bring your awareness back to your body. Feel the surface beneath you, the air around you. Take one more deep breath in… and as you exhale, carry this sense of trust and care into your day. Open your eyes gently when it feels right.

Thank you for being here. Take care.
