Heaven Weeps over War

Religion has played a causal role in many wars and still does. This is the weirdest thing in the universe.

In this blog, I take the position that religion is about more than just a fairy tale. Being raised in a post-Vatican-II Catholic environment, what has struck me most and has stuck till the present day is the saying “God is Love.”

On top of this came the ‘summer of love.’

In 1967, I was too young, but just a few years later, the afterglow was part of my musical – and more – world. There was an excellent match between that kind of God, that kind of music, and that kind of me.

And there still is.

War

War is totally incompatible with the above. So, in this day and age – yes, even now – we have a big problem. War may be waged, among other things, to ‘protect our children.’ But as to God, all children are His. That includes the enemy’s children.

Killing those breaks His heart — even, or precisely when these deaths are seen as ‘collateral damage.’

Collateral damage? No way!

Tears in Heaven

One can find it weird that God doesn’t mingle, that He lets us do such stuff. This age-old mystery about letting us suffer and cause suffering to others, indeed, reaches its max in war.

The mystery has never been solved satisfactorily.

Meanwhile, the only thing one can feel in this regard is the Heavenly Weeping, as shown to us by Jesus’s mother.

Back to Earth

I see every war as proof of absent religion. Thus, seeing one’s religion as a reason to wage war is pure insanity, and that must be denounced as such by all straight-thinking people — especially those who feel religious, whether or not they also believe in Something.

To better understand this, put yourself at the enemy’s side. Even better, go and live there, then form your opinion in the face of God.

Would you dare then to look into His eyes?

You can imagine doing this — now. Do you dare?

Or do you believe in a fairy tale, after all?

In a fairyland, of course, anything can be believed to feel good, to go with the flow, to take whatever is given if only it ‘sounds right,’ and also if it does so to a considerable degree.

No real God would ever want to be at the center of such a fairyland. In other words, this is the opposite of any true religion possible.

If nothing else proves this last assertion, then any war in His name clearly does.

Anyway

Anyway, dear believer, whatever your religion, your God prefers your love above your hate.

If you are genuinely religious, your next decision will be the proper consequence.

AURELIS and Gnosticism both emphasize inner awakening. They agree that true transformation doesn’t come from obedience to outside forces. But while they meet at this deep insight, they ultimately take very different paths. Gnosticism is built on the idea that we are trapped in an illusion, caught in a world of deception and suffering, created Read the full article…

True Religion

Religions often view each other as ‘false.’ In this sense, every religion is deemed false by someone within the religious sphere. But can we fundamentally talk about ‘false religion’? Religious feelings are never false. That’s an essential point. One can fake religious feelings, but then there are no genuine feelings to be false. True religious Read the full article…

Sea of Faith

It’s an excellent idea, all religions coming together in a sea of faith. For someone outside of any organized religion, this may feel like coming home for oneself and everyone else. It didn’t work out in the past. On several occasions, in places as remote from each other as the Netherlands and India, attempts have Read the full article…
