Experiencing THIS Apple

August 21, 2019 Meditation No Comments

This is an apple meditation. Please follow the experience. Let yourself flow along as it goes. If you do this with a real apple, don’t immediately eat it.

An apple

You look at an apple. You can eat it. You experience it.

You probably know this kind of apple. How many did you eat already?

You know how it feels. You know how it tastes. If there is no worm in it, this apple doesn’t surprise you. You’re an expert apple-of-this-kind eater.

This apple

however, is more than an apple. Much, much more

since it is THIS apple.

Look at it. There is no apple like THIS apple, nor has there ever been or will be.

Obviously, but it’s about much more than this now. THIS apple is a direct experience. If the concept of ‘apple’ doesn’t stand in the way, then you see this apple FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME.

Even after experiencing a thousand times such an apple, this is still the very first time.

Let the ‘very first time’ be WITHIN YOU now. It’s a way of looking. This has little or nothing to do with just historically being ‘the first time’ anymore.

It is within this moment a unique experience.

And this apple is immensely beautiful.

Also if you look at each detail, this detail is immensely beautiful.

There is between this apple and you no concept of ‘apple’ anymore. You experience the apple being empty of apple. You have the direct experience of a child that doesn’t know this is an apple, nor that there are more apples in this world and how they would look like.

This is the first AND the last apple.

It’s this and only this one.

And because you are ALIVE, you can experience this apple.

Just as you can look in a mirror and see yourself FOR THE FIRST TIME.

Because you are ALIVE, not only on a cellular level or as a body. Because you are completely alive, not dead while living or such thing.

This is “beginner’s mind.”

It’s also relevant in a relationship, for instance, as between a man and a woman.

Do you feel that this is much MORE than a purely conceptual experience?

And do you feel now that this is very important?

This is a way of looking at anyone. Each time again and again.

And then you see that everything lives because YOU are alive.

Conceptually, you can look at anything and not see this. You can even look at the sea as a pit filled with water. Conceptually, it is a pit filled with water.

And then you can wait until the sea deeply touches you and it will never deeply touch you

until you feel the life within.

30. Meditation is NOT a therapy

Laughing as therapy. Crying as therapy. Moving as therapy. Not moving as therapy. It seems as if people are looking for ‘therapy’ everywhere. We live in a therapy-based society.
