Two Ways to Turn a Square into a Circle

You can cut the corners off a square to make it round, or you can let the square grow naturally into a circle.

This is part of the series ‘A Journey through 12 AURELIS Metaphors.’ For an introduction to this series and a list of the 12 metaphors, click here.

Imagine a square. One way to make it into a circle is to cut off its corners, forcefully shaping it into something new. This method might seem effective, but it’s crude and leaves behind sharp edges, remnants of what was removed. The result may resemble a circle, but it lacks harmony.

Now imagine another way. The square expands and grows outward, not by losing itself but by evolving naturally into a circle. Its edges soften over time, its form becoming round without force or destruction. This is a true transformation — organic, gentle, and complete.

The two paths to change

The first path – cutting the corners – represents forced change. This approach might produce results quickly, but it often involves suppressing parts of yourself, leaving behind emotional scars or unresolved issues. It’s change that comes from external pressure, not inner understanding.

The second path – letting the square grow into a circle – symbolizes natural transformation. It respects your wholeness, allowing every part of you to evolve in harmony. This path takes time and patience, but it creates lasting change that feels authentic and true to who you are.

AURELIS and the invitation to grow

An AurelisOnLine session is like the gentle nurturing of the square as it grows into a circle. It doesn’t impose change or try to fix you. Instead, it provides the conditions for natural transformation, helping you align with your deeper self and embrace growth from within.

Through this approach, you learn to trust in the process of inner evolution, knowing that true transformation cannot be rushed or forced.

Exploring together with Lisa

Lisa, your AURELIS companion, can help you explore the two paths to transformation. She might ask:

  • “Where in your life are you trying to cut corners to force change?”
  • “How would it feel to allow yourself the time and space to grow naturally?”

Through her guidance, Lisa helps you shift from external pressure to inner growth, fostering a deeper sense of trust and balance.

Take a moment to reflect:

  1. Think of a time when you tried to force change in yourself. What was the outcome?
  2. Now imagine letting growth happen naturally, without pressure or judgment. How might this feel different?

Try this short Compassionate Affirmation:
“I trust in my natural growth. I evolve gently and completely, transforming into my true self.”

Hello, and welcome. In this session, we’ll explore two paths to transformation: forcing change by cutting corners or allowing natural growth to unfold. One is abrupt and leaves scars; the other is gentle and harmonious. Take this moment to connect with the idea of growing into your true self — completely and naturally.

Begin by finding a comfortable position. Let your hands rest softly, and when you’re ready, close your eyes. Start with a deep breath in… hold it softly for a moment… and exhale slowly, releasing tension from your body. Let’s do this two more times. With each breath, feel yourself relaxing more deeply, settling into this moment of calm and openness.

Now, imagine a square. Its edges are sharp, its corners defined. One way to turn it into a circle is to cut off its corners. Picture this happening. Each corner is sliced away, piece by piece. The shape begins to change, but it feels forced. The process leaves marks — scars of what was taken. While the square now resembles a circle, it doesn’t feel whole. Its transformation came from destruction, not growth.

Take a deep breath in, and as you exhale, let this image fade. In its place, imagine the same square transforming in another way. This time, the square grows outward. Its edges soften, its corners expand and curve. There is no cutting, no force — just a natural evolution. Over time, the square becomes a perfect circle, smooth and complete. This transformation feels different — organic, gentle, and whole.

Notice how this circle includes everything that was once part of the square. Nothing is lost; nothing is left behind. The transformation happened naturally, without judgment or pressure. This process mirrors your own potential for growth. You don’t need to cut away parts of yourself to become whole. True transformation happens when you trust your inner nature to evolve at its own pace.

Now, softly repeat these words to yourself:
“I trust in my natural growth.I evolve gently and completely, transforming into my true self.I am whole. I am complete.”

Say it again, letting the words resonate deeply within you:
“I trust in my natural growth.I evolve gently and completely, transforming into my true self.I am whole. I am complete.”

As you say these words, imagine the circle glowing softly, radiating a sense of peace and harmony. Know that this glow comes from within you — it’s a reflection of your deeper self. Trust in this process. Your transformation is already happening, even if you cannot always see it.

Take another deep breath in, and as you exhale, begin to bring your awareness back to your body. Feel the surface beneath you, the air around you. Wiggle your fingers or toes if that feels good. Take one last deep breath… and as you exhale, carry this sense of trust and wholeness into your day. When you’re ready, gently open your eyes.

Thank you for being here. Take care.
