AURELIS in Everything?

There are AURELIS books, blog-essays, and mental exercises about many domains. Can AURELIS-specific expertise be genuinely relevant in all of these?

AURELIS-specific expertise

This is about a specific layer in the human mind. It’s a pretty big and important layer ― if not, pragmatically seen, the most important one. At the same time, it’s the most neglected in many domains.

This is the layer of subconceptual processing. I have published about its importance in health and healing. It is also more generally crucial to human welfare. You may get an idea about this importance from the inside out by looking at how it enlightens many aspects of human thinking/feeling/deciding.

This is an expertise that I have been building up over many years. Tackling several domains has helped a lot in seeing more clearly what the common issue is about and how this is specifically relevant to any of them.

Toward Compassion

With this, we come to the specific end goal of AURELIS in everything (human-related), being Compassion, basically. The layer of subconceptual processing is crucial in leading to a Compassionate take on any human-related issue (and more).

The best introduction about a concrete how-to in the AURELIS project may be this description of AURELIS in several layers. Of course, beyond this introduction and description of the field, there are many workouts possible. The congruence over all these lies in this description. It is a hugely important congruence that has been and will be kept as far as AURELIS goes. This way, people can be confident in what it’s about, and the project can keep its trustworthiness (being one of the core values).

So many concrete domains?

This is in contrast to, for instance, the many sub-specializations in the healthcare field. Each of these silos has a specific kind of expert specializing in a narrow view. Such specializations are necessary to build up sufficient knowledge and expertise in the limited field. There is nothing wrong with that.

However, if these silos are like vertical entities, they all show some blind spot at the same height in the silo. This is the level of what AURELIS is about, as described above ― without the pretention to be knowledgeable about every total silo. To tackle the blind spot in some concrete silo, one needs to know just enough about the rest. This is substantial yet feasible (with a lot of hard work, as you may see in several scientific articles).

The conundrum of the expert

The blind spot in many silos is closely related to what I have described elsewhere as the basic cognitive illusion. Simply said: one is not conscious of what one is not conscious about. This creates many gaps. The more these gaps are filled with ‘whatever,’ the harder it gets to mind the gaps for what they are.

A ubiquitous ‘characteristic of the expert’ is that, for efficiency’s sake, he is also an expert in solving direct problems by leaving out much distracting noise. In many cases, this is justifiable. However, if the noise is important, this same expert-characteristic becomes a hurdle. This is the case regarding the subconceptual.

The conundrum of the expert lies in the idea of being an expert regarding the totality of one’s specific silo. This may create an aversion against the blind spot. Interesting in this regard is the fact – well researched – that medical experts are generally more open to acknowledging the placebo effect in every field except their own.

This goes from philosophy to psychology to medicine – in many subfields – to eventually everything where human depth is involved

Going forward

There is no point in starting a fight against many experts.

Meanwhile, much – and increasingly more – human suffering is related to the blind spot. On top of this – and eventually even more critical – is the lack of possible human growth on the same basis. AURELIS has a mission.

To go forward, clarity is needed in 1) showing the blind spot and 2) making consistently clear that this part of the silos is not within the responsibility of the vertical experts.

In such an environment, the horizontal AURELIS expertise can be brought to bear in many domains, and we can go forward toward a better world.

In-depth, these two concepts are much intertwined to such a degree that they can be seen as the basis of an undivided philosophy of life ― quite congruent with AURELIS.
