80. The Battling Sexes

January 31, 2018 Sticky Thoughts No Comments

Man, woman, and the eternal question: are we of the same species? The same world? The same universe? Is the so-called battle between the sexes really a ‘war of worlds’ between aliens? Or is it all an illusion?

Illusion?

◊◊◊

If you ask me, ‘illusion’ is indeed a keyword in it all. This doesn’t mean that the battle itself is an illusion. There has been big battle and probably will remain so for a while. But: there has never been a good cause for this battle. The cause itself has always been illusory, namely: the idea that there is anything to be gained by fighting against the other sex. No way. If anything has ever been gained, it was by caring for, not fighting against. ‘Make love, not war’ has nowhere been as relevant as when applied to this domain.

◊◊◊

Well, you should know by now that in saying the above, I mean no disrespect for suffragettes or any other -ettes. Nor for their reasons for action. What I do mean, is that if they have ever gained anything, it was by their own caring for, not their aggression. By the way, ‘caring for’ and ‘fighting’ (but not ‘fighting against’) go particularly well together, you know. It’s even always a very powerful idea to let them go together. The ‘enemy’ will not have an easy time trying to grapple with it. One warning though: if you try it at home, please be sure you make yourself very clear. Really ‘caring for’ is not equal to letting yourself be abused. Of course you already have a very clear insight in this…

We need each other. We even are each other. In the end, the battle between sexes is a battle inside each individual. Read my lips, I will say this only once (each time): the ‘battle’ is between the ego and its own destiny, which is not to disappear (this is part of the illusion itself), but to open-up, to blossom, to ‘Transform’ and by doing so, to let something far wider appear: the total self.

◊◊◊

The battle within is fought at the outside. It’s always the same thing. Battle between sexes, battle within each sex in order to gain ‘access’ to the other sex. You name it. Then what is there to do? I just said it…

◊◊◊

Namely, I just said a weird thing which you may have noticed: ‘We even are each other.’ Man has woman inside. Woman has man inside. This has nothing to do with being holebi. It goes far beyond that. A real communication between sexes, at least at the individual level,  is where they merge. Look at it well: to merge is even the reason for existence of the sexes in the first place. Man and woman merge. New life emerges from this. That’s what nature always had in mind. I think that the principle is existing in the whole universe. If there’s life somewhere else, there are bound to be ‘man’ and ‘woman’. Or call them yin and yang or whatever you like. There will always be merging and emerging.

◊◊◊

Maybe there will always be a bit of battle too?

◊◊◊

I think it’s good to strive towards giving this battle the proportion it deserves, which is very little… Let me start it with a very sticky suggestion: next time you make love with him/her, try to also ‘be’ him/here. You’ll have fun for two, guaranteed!

Dear reader, let me take you on a journey to Emptiness. No, I have not suddenly become a fan of nothingness or nihilism. Neither did I invent/discover the concept of Emptiness. I’m too late for that. It was already invented/discovered some 1800 years ago by an Indian guy called Nagaryuna. Thanks to him, it became Read the full article…

An event that changed my life, at least my thinking about it, happened in Brazil. It’s already a while ago. I was still a medical student at that time and had the opportunity to work in a hospital in a shantytown (a ‘favela’) of Salvador Da Bahia for some months. Parents came there with their Read the full article…

49. Mind and body: no strangers, Sir, no strangers at all

Even to this day, to many -most?- people, mind and body seem to be very much NOT profoundly connected to each other. Mind being unphysical and ‘volatile’, body being only physical and very, very concrete. So how can the unphysical influence the physical? ◊◊◊ That’s the question. And what an incredibly weird question it is! Read the full article…
