What’s the Secret?

November 13, 2017 General Insights No Comments

Looking for the ‘secret’ can be shallow or very profound. Shallowness shouldn’t close the doors of profound perception.

Shallow = the ‘secret’ as a simple key leading straight towards worldly success, wealth and fame. For instance, through mindlessly, mechanically repeating ‘I want’. A simple mechanism as if oneself were also nothing but a mechanical construct.

This shallowness is a perversion of profundity.

The difference lies in depth of mind. There is no ‘law of attraction’ at the superficial level. Ignoring the deeper part of mind leads to effects opposite to the intended. However, this deeper – unconscious – part is real. Modern science has proven its existence and importance in many ways. Therefore, one shouldn’t try to just swap the ‘secret’ away with a scientific brush… Even though it’s frequently treated in most unscientific ways, one can still try to be as rational as possible in thinking about it.

A profound ‘secret’ can be found in many religions.

In the Egyptian, Greek and Roman mystery religions, the mystery was a ‘secret’. Allah cannot be seen. The Holy Trinity cannot be understood. Hinduism is full of ‘secret’ things, places, wisdoms… The secret is attractive. It draws people’s attention. But then it doesn’t yield.

Many people are looking for this so-called ‘secret’, presupposing that it is something. Otherwise, what’s the purpose?

But the secret is PRECISELY NOT something.

That is what it’s eventually about. It is no-thing. This is very different from nothing. With nothing, there is – well – just nothing. Contrary to this, if you look into no-thing, you see … conceptual ‘emptiness’. This is the way of your own unconscious. Thus the secret attracts because it concerns the deepest within you. You know there is something, even immensely much. Yet you look into ‘emptiness’. More precisely as already said: conceptual emptiness.

The Secret that Cannot be Found, is You.

This ‘secret’ is secret because of it’s being so. It’s not hidden. There is not necessarily someone who doesn’t want you to know it and therefore hides it from you. It’s also not just difficult to be found. It cannot be unveiled. It exists as what cannot be found. Eventually, even ‘something’, being anything at all, is way beyond what ‘secret’ is about.

And that is because it’s about how you ‘think’, how your mind works, how your brain forms mental content. It’s about YOU opening (or not) your mind. Looking at what is a so-called ‘secret’, you look into the emptiness of your mind itself. YOUR thinking makes or un-makes the secret.

Not-knowable because that is the way our mind/brain works.

We do not know the neurons of our brain, nor the patterns that these neurons form in the depth of our mind/brain. They are ‘secret’ by nature not because there is nothing, but because they are at any moment present BEFORE conceptual thinking. Forming conscious thoughts, we lose these pre-patterns. For instance, ‘empathy’ – so very important in many human endeavors – shows that we react to much more than we are consciously aware of. Grabbing it, is losing it. Not grabbing it, is being able to look at it as no-thing, no-thought, no-feeling.

Yet this is the source of what drives us, the eventual source of deep motivation.

Therefore – paradoxically – it is the ‘secret’ that drives towards accomplishing anything: success, health and wellness, growth… if one doesn’t try to grab these from mere shallowness. That would just not be realistic.

There is no surface of any pond without the pond itself.
