And then what about \u2018God as creator of the universe\u2019? Has anything been created at all, some time?<\/p>\n

Still, religion is about seeking the truth<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
(and about some other sociocultural issues of course).<\/p>\n
Religious people want to believe in the true God (or Gods or something \u2018divine\u2019). They don\u2019t want to believe in a phantasm.<\/p>\n
But is \u2018God\u2019, in an incomprehensible whole, comprehensible? Is it thus even possible<\/em> to truly believe in something to which we humans may lend the characteristic of \u2018truth\u2019?<\/p>\n
And science\u2026 same thing<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
As well as religion, science wants to attain, or at least approach truth somehow. Scientifically, we want to build up a body of truth. Science thus has the same end-goal as religion.<\/p>\n
The methods differ.<\/p>\n
Ideas about what ultimate truth may be about also differ.<\/p>\n
But what then in God\u2019s name \u2013 or in Science\u2019s name \u2013 may be this ultimate truth?<\/p>\n
Descartes was sure of only one thing: \u201cI think\u2026\u201d<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
and saw this as proof of being: \u201c\u2026 therefore I am.\u201d<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the \u201cI\u201d and the \u201cthink\u201d have been unmasked as two of the most debatable concepts that \u201cI\u201d can \u201cthink\u201d of. Problematic, since there is no real<\/em> alternative to this \u2018final truth.\u2019 Our knowledge about anything at all thus looks like an imploded bubble.<\/p>\n
Still, there is progress.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
And with progress, there is a striving for more.<\/p>\n
And that\u2019s OK.<\/p>\n
\u2018Truth\u2019 is still the highest good. We should back away from blatant untruth. Even if ultimate truth is not \u2013 ever \u2013 to be comprehended by mortals like us, the striving that we feel as a striving-for-truth is there. This striving is part of an ethical stance. It\u2019s an end-value.\u00a0 It doesn\u2019t even matter therefore whether we even are principally able to<\/em> reach the final goal.<\/p>\n
In religion as in science, let\u2019s just do the best we can.<\/p>\n
