{"id":7679,"date":"2021-08-01T19:31:00","date_gmt":"2021-08-01T19:31:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aurelis.org\/blog\/?p=7679"},"modified":"2021-09-12T19:32:14","modified_gmt":"2021-09-12T19:32:14","slug":"aurelis-and-friendliness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aurelis.org\/blog\/aurelis-syllabus\/aurelis-and-friendliness","title":{"rendered":"AURELIS and Friendliness"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3>AURELIS seems like a very friendly way to treat yourself and others\u2026 and rest assured, it is.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>But: not simply.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018Friendly\u2019 does not mean that you satisfy others in the most convenient way no matter what.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That would be kind to the ego, but not to the deeper self.&nbsp;And that is precisely the opposite of the intention at AURELIS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Kindness to the Deeper Self<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is mainly in the deep attention you give, the kindness, the invitation that makes this possible.&nbsp;You constantly invite the other to be himself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You also \u2018accept\u2019 the other in his deeper self-being.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBeing accepted for who I am.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>OK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018I\u2019 may be the ocean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Acceptance on a superficial level does not always coincide with this.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This depends, among other things, on the degree of dissociation of the person(s) involved.&nbsp;So: the extent to which&nbsp;<strong>conscious thinking does not take into account the pattern of its own deeper self.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If two people, each significantly dissociated, treat each other in an \u2018accepting\u2019 way, then it is possible that they are actually just holding each other up behind the scenes to make themselves \u2018better\u2019 in a merely superficial way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then they are holding each other\u2019s flower bud closed, in a kind of barter system: You help me in this, and I help you in that.&nbsp;On the surface, we can see one as \u2018helper\u2019 and the other as \u2018helped.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The relationship may even be &#8216;therapeutic&#8217; from a superficial point of view, yet this doesn\u2019t change what happens in the background.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>So are you a good AURELIS coach if both the coachee and you have a good feeling about&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>it?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not necessarily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You even have to be critical about this, because before you know it, you are in the \u2018feel good vein,\u2019 and that does NOT help the coachee in depth \u2015 ON THE CONTRARY.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, AURELIS is very friendly in principle but can sometimes raise difficult questions if necessary and valuable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>AURELIS is not a mother who keeps her children at home in a motherly way.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is not a friend who merely fills the time with superficial chattering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The intention is to help people, but also effectively:&nbsp;<em>people<\/em>, not shadows.&nbsp;Three-dimensional, not two-dimensional.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you don\u2019t recognize this, you can sometimes get the wrong idea of what AURELIS is all about.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>AURELIS is kind, <em>infinitely&nbsp;kind<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>thus also friendly to infinity of which finiteness is part.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>AURELIS takes people outside Plato&#8217;s cave in a friendly and, at the same time, determined way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What is&nbsp;<em>not&nbsp;<\/em>intended is to make people even more comfortable inside the cave so that it is even less easy for them to escape from it.&nbsp;It\u2019s true: inside the cave, the sunlight doesn\u2019t hurt the eyes.&nbsp;Outside the cave, it does indeed, but that\u2019s&nbsp;<em>not&nbsp;<\/em>the sun\u2019s fault!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Rather avoid covering coaching.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There\u2019s nothing against an easy chat now and then, of course. But too much chit chat coaching has to be avoided.&nbsp;It is only directly supportive, like propping up that only works temporarily and meanwhile allows the building to deteriorate further so that more and more propping is needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That is a purely&nbsp;<em>covering&nbsp;<\/em>form of coaching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because this mainly supports the ego of both coach and coachee, this pitfall is temptingly strong.&nbsp;Call this the \u2018Mr. Nice Guy Syndrome.\u2019&nbsp;The ego will be happy to settle into this. All the more so because as a coach\/therapist, you are making yourself more and more indispensable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>You create a wrongful dependence,<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>and you are financially well-off: Coachees come back because they have no other choice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the surface, it\u2019s easy to look like \u2018the savior,\u2019 but that\u2019s not right.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>This also shows in: responding superficially to emotions,<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>even provoking emotions, without going&nbsp;any further with&nbsp;this&nbsp;<em>in-depth<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This quickly traps the coachee, and indeed the coach himself, into <em>superficial<\/em><em> <\/em>emotions.
