A speaker\u2019s charisma is his being openly himself. This is also the main characteristic of leadership.<\/h3>\n

In following you while speaking, the audience gets closer together.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

That\u2019s a leader\u2019s stuff. A charismatic speaker touches his audience and invites and leads them towards his vision. A speaker\u2019s charisma thus may change someone\u2019s life or even the course of history.<\/p>\n

So what is charisma?<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

You can liken charisma to empathy. A charismatic speaker speaks from the heart \u2013 to the heart. It may be the most important thing that people remember: the feeling while listening to YOU.<\/p>\n

So give them \u2013 YOU.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Be generous with yourself. Let people recognize you in the way you act, talk, respond. Openly. Anyway, if you are a good speaker, they like to see you<\/em>. Whether consciously or unconsciously, they come for you<\/em>.<\/p>\n

And your talk\u2019s content? Indeed. The content through you<\/em>.<\/p>\n

A charismatic speaker looks at his audience and responds to them. The audience thus can respond to him.<\/p>\n

In whatever situation, speak as a person and to a person, one only, then to another.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

At any moment and from within yourself<\/em>, make contact with one person. If you talk to all, you are talking to no one. While talking to one person, you are also talking to the others. That is your art.<\/p>\n

Of course, even this can be brought as a mere technique. Then you are diminishing your art which can only come from deep inside you<\/em>.<\/p>\n

A charismatic speaker is an artist performer. <\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

People notice even if not consciously. It\u2019s much like the reaction to an artist performer. A very good actor becomes his act. He may know his text by heart. Still he can bring it in the most spontaneous way.<\/p>\n

Implication to nervousness<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Nervousness, a fear to show yourself.<\/p>\n

What can you do? In a nutshell: actively show yourself as you are. Let your message fully be: this is who I am \u2013 dear audience, what you see is what you get: ME. If the audience responds to this with an OK, you\u2019re in it together. Not \u2018me versus them.\u2019 Just all together \u2018us.\u2019 So:<\/p>\n

Let yourself be open.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

You can open up your body by standing frontal to the public. Let your standing, as your walking and anything else, come from within yourself<\/em>. You let your deeper self free to respond. Your audience may also become more open. They smile, which makes you more inspired. There is an unconscious connection \u2013 from inner self to inner self.<\/p>\n

This may seem easy but it isn\u2019t. Faking art may be easy. Bringing true art never is.<\/p>\n

Charisma is like surfing on the waves of your audience. A good surfer is mentally close to each wave. In telling a story for instance, you can invite a growing wave. You know where the story is going to. You let your audience flow in that direction. It\u2019s as if they create the wave. You<\/em> surf on their<\/em> energy.<\/p>\n

What everybody feels then is your charisma and in all humility: your Open Leadership.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Your charisma is a revolving door towards you<\/em>.<\/p>\n

You as a unique<\/em> person.<\/p>\n

You as a total<\/em> person.<\/p>\n

In this respect, your charisma is like any other kind of art.<\/p>\n
