\u25ba\u25ba\u25ba WHY read this? To preserve democracy, we need to answer this question.\u25c4\u25c4\u25c4<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As a human being, one doesn\u2019t see one\u2019s mind, but from and through one\u2019s mind. [see: \u201cThe Basic Cognitive Illusion<\/a>\u201d] This way, what populates one\u2019s mind may be seen in the external world, \u2018projected\u2019 \u2013 rather like a blueprint \u2013 by preference on another entity that looks like oneself. Say, other human beings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Especially if one doesn\u2019t want to see something within the own mind, one is at risk of getting the impression that it\u2019s present outside. I see in this, for instance, the basis of racial discrimination. [see: \u201cThe Source of Discrimination<\/a>\u201d]<\/p>\n\n\n\n Inner dissociation divides people. At voting time, they see differences rather than similarities and don\u2019t understand why others vote differently. What motivates them? [see: “Motivating ‘Us’<\/a>“]<\/p>\n\n\n\n While others may of course just have different opinions, it increasingly strikes me that democracy suffers from inner dissociation. One can see this in the hardness of opinions and how they are outed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In the first place, the way towards within oneself<\/em>. This is a process of human growth, diminishing inner dissociation, getting insight into the basic cognitive illusion, and seeing that a projected stain (on a window or within one\u2019s mind) is a projection, not a monster outside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n What is needed is also the way towards within others<\/em> \u2015 n\u0336ot only somewhere at the strictly conceptual outside, but deep within, where broad and broader and then even broader mental patterns reign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n [see: \u201cDeep Listening<\/a>\u201d]<\/p>\n\n\n\n In conscious awareness, people tend to listen to each other in a rather conceptual way – Not subconceptually. [see: \u201c<\/a>About \u2018Subconceptual\u2019<\/a>\u201d] The difference is like pebbles in water versus the water itself. They behave differently. They are, of course, very different. Yet, if one looks at them from afar, one may point at them as if at only one kind of thing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This leads to misunderstandings. Human history and politics and probably the future are full of them. Interpreting water as pebbles and pebbles as water, how can you understand anything humanly important?<\/p>\n\n\n\n The more dissociated they are \u2013 the more entrapped in their basic cognitive illusion \u2013 the more vulnerable they are to \u2018divide and conquer.\u2019 This can lead to a stark misuse of democracy, in which people are set up against each other precisely to control them for negative-populist gains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A sure road to power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n It is being done at present in several countries. The more sociopathic the populist, the more means he gets to accomplish this. Is it anyone\u2019s fault? It is undoubtedly a vulnerability of democracy-by-vote. Through this vulnerability, autocracy may enter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Thus, \u201cWhy Do They Vote Differently?\u201d may be the crucial question in any democracy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Not only to unite (again), but also to get to know oneself better. This may be an inconvenient challenge to anyone: You have to see the other from inside, and from there, look at yourself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Why do you vote differently, looked upon from the standpoint of the other?<\/p>\n\n\n\n You can also express your standpoint in a way that the other understands. You go forward together. You have the same goals deep inside. It just needs a bit of translation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Everybody cares.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Everybody is pro-life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Everybody wants to defend one\u2019s kin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Everybody has empathy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Nobody wants to kill babies. [see: \u201cKilling Babies?<\/a>\u201d]<\/p>\n\n\n\n Everybody has a religious yearning, deep inside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Everybody can enjoy beauty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Everybody needs to love and be loved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The differences are cosmetic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2018They\u2019 vote differently, but eventually for the same underlying reasons.<\/p>\nThe only way out of this is the way in.<\/h5>\n\n\n\n
