In case of the death penalty, it\u2019s murder with full premeditation.<\/p>\n<p>In \u2018taking,\u2019 one can see a relevant fuzziness which makes thinking about, for instance, euthanasia important. Can one \u2018take\u2019 one\u2019s own life? One can end it for sure.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>To \u2018take\u2019 it means that it\u2019s not already yours.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Is it of \u2018God\u2019? Which one (of millions)? Would the real one care, or if indeed, would he care more for an abstract notion of life than for conscious suffering? Who says? Who knows?<\/p>\n<p>Who has the hubris to tell others?<\/p>\n<p>There is no rationality in this. Nor any decent poetry. Actually, I see only and merely <em>ego<\/em>, the actions of anxious individuals. [see: \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/aurelis.org\/blog?p=1586\">Difference between Fear and Anxiety<\/a>\u201d]<\/p>\n<p><strong>The full human being<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>should be taken into consideration, always.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not ethical to think about human being, in any circumstance, as only the tiny part which is \u2018ego\u2019. [see: \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/aurelis.org\/blog?p=1097\">The Story of Ego<\/a>\u201d] Full human being is immensely much more. One can feel this best within oneself through communicating with it. [see: \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/aurelis.org\/blog?p=1028\">Dancing With the \u2018Deeper Self\u2019<\/a>\u201d] Or take any of the 1000+ AURELIS exercises.<\/p>\n<p>Fully taking into account the full human being changes everything, from healthcare to politics to religion to so much more, including:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>death penalty.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>A certain person has \u2013 in most cases only very probably \u2013 committed an atrocity, such as murder. People agree that this deserves death. The sociocultural environment makes them do so. Simply: another culture (time, place) -&gt; no death penalty.<\/p>\n<p>Culture engenders death penalty.<\/p>\n<p>As, in the same vein, culture engenders the atrocity itself. No baby is born with the idea \u201cGosh, now I\u2019m in this world, I will grow up to become a murderer.\u201d The cultural environment makes him so, murder of any kind being part of this.<\/p>\n<p>Or he might become a judge.<\/p>\n<p>Who\u2019s responsible for the cultural environment?<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>\u2018Guilty\u2019 only makes sense in a mere-ego-world.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>[see: \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/aurelis.org\/blog?p=606\">Always Responsible, Never Guilty<\/a>\u201d]<\/p>\n<p>Let alone the ultimate penalty.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Protecting people and society at large<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Apart from revenge and other crazy motivations for legalized murder, this may indeed be a sensible argument: inflicting injury and suffering to avoid more injury and suffering. After all, that\u2019s why the surgeon takes his scalpel.<\/p>\n<p>One should thread this very carefully.<\/p>\n<p>The death penalty may <em>heighten<\/em> aggression and the commitment of atrocities in that specific society, in many covert ways. I do think this is the case.<\/p>\n<p><strong>It\u2019s not because something is covert that it\u2019s not real, nor unreal.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>One needs to think it over, very much.<\/p>\n<p>A deluge of scientific data points to the fact that the present view on human being as it lives in most of Western culture \u2013 from healthcare to etc. \u2013 is strongly outdated. This is related to what I, again and again, refer to as \u2018the subconceptual\u2019 or \u2018deeper self.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>No mumbo-jumbo.
