This goes way beyond cosmetics.<\/p>\n<p>Since AURELIS is specifically depth-minded, this is specifically important.<\/p>\n<p>A drawing from my PhD thesis:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2210\" src=\"https:\/\/i1.wp.com\/aurelis.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/326.jpg?resize=300%2C102&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"102\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i1.wp.com\/aurelis.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/326.jpg?resize=300%2C102&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i1.wp.com\/aurelis.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/326.jpg?resize=768%2C260&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i1.wp.com\/aurelis.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/326.jpg?w=956&amp;ssl=1 956w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>You think you draw something to you and actually, you\u2019re drawing it away from you, endlessly\u2026 until the difference between conceptual and subconceptual processing (grossly: above and below the bold line in the drawing) is rightly grasped [see: \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/aurelis.org\/blog?p=1420\">About \u2018Subconceptual\u2019<\/a>].<\/p>\n<p>A few examples:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>One tries to fight overweight and gets more and more obese.<\/li>\n<li>One tries to fight addiction and gets more and more entangled.<\/li>\n<li>One tries to fight burnout and gets more and more burned-out.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Efficient? No. In many cases, it\u2019s even counter-efficient.<\/p>\n<p>This is not always the easiest message, though, in an ego-driven world.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>This way, eventually, efficiency beyond cosmetics is bound to an ethical choice.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>You need to take care of the <em>ethical<\/em> base upon which to erect some depth-related building. This ethical base is itself goal-bound. Only then can you rightfully strive for efficiency <em>towards that goal<\/em>, which in such case will be ethical as well as durable!<\/p>\n<p>Searching the <em>relevant<\/em> goal starts with the most obvious goal, then the search almost always goes beyond, in-depth. Here, things are mostly muzzled. The more encompassing a project, the more muzzled. Politics being a perfect example: what is \u2018left\u2019 and what is \u2018right\u2019 from the moment \u2018depth\u2019 is involved?<\/p>\n<p>I agree: we haven&#8217;t seen much of this in real politics until now.<\/p>\n<p>As to AURELIS, the ethical base is explicit. [See \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/aurelis.org\/blog?p=967\">Five Aurelian Values<\/a>\u2019]<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>No cosmetics.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The AURELIS goal is not merely some\u00a0relief of superficial suffering.\u00a0It\u2019s\u00a0about being friendly to the total person: yourself and others.<\/p>\n<p>It is <em>not<\/em> the defense of some jointly inhabited, fragile \u2018house of cards\u2019 that always needs hardness at the outside in order not to tumble to the floor.\u00a0Such a house of cards may provide an us-feeling but regrettably, one that is flawed from the beginning, from inside. Even before there is an inimical \u2018them\u2019, it\u2019s already begging for one.<\/p>\n<p>Real friendliness is not a semblance of strength. Therefore, it\u2019s not hard [see: \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/aurelis.org\/blog?p=1272\">Weak, Hard, Strong, Gentle<\/a>\u2019]. The following may be one of the most important things to always remember:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Ethical = strong<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>because real strength is not merely cosmetic, by definition. Cosmetic strength is not durable, not flexible, not \u2018alive\u2019. It\u2019s weak. Precisely because of this, cosmetic parlance frequently shows itself quite hard, in a thin layer.<\/p>\n<p>If possible, you shouldn\u2019t bother if others try to put you in some cosmetic bottle.
