No one\u2019s calling. No task needs your attention. Outside, the sky changes softly \u2014 light folding into itself.<br>You look around. Nothing is happening.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The discomfort of stillness<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are trained, gently but persistently, to fill.<br>Fill the silence. Fill the calendar. Fill the waiting. Even the short pause between two actions can feel like a tiny vacuum that must be closed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But what if nothing truly needed to happen?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What if the most meaningful part of this moment is its lack of content?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s not easy. The itch to scroll, to plan, to <em>do<\/em> something can be strong. Even boredom can feel like failure \u2014 as if being alive means being constantly <em>engaged<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And yet\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The space underneath<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When nothing happens, something underneath begins to appear. Not something dramatic or extraordinary, but subtle \u2014 like the sound of your breath when you finally listen to it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You may notice that your thoughts are quieter. Or perhaps they grow louder at first, then start to drift, without needing to be chased.<br>You don\u2019t need to solve them.<br>You don\u2019t even need to follow them.<br>You can just be there, with them, as you might sit beside a stream.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nothing to fix.<br>Nothing to achieve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The stillness is not a problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Like a tree in winter<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You may feel like you are doing nothing. That you are paused. Dormant. Useless.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But what is a tree in winter? It does not bloom. It does not fruit.
