The outer focus is \u2018only\u2019 congruent with the inner.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>In-depth, everything is connected.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This universal interconnectedness is a <a href=\"https:\/\/aurelis.org\/blog?p=9220\">feature of subconceptual processing<\/a>, exemplified by the human experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this, the human mind\/brain corresponds with its environment (the world) and has always done so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>In practice<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Embracing \u2018dependent arising\u2019 in our daily lives means recognizing how our thoughts, feelings, and actions are deeply interconnected with our environment and experiences. This awareness can empower us to navigate life with more mindfulness and Compassion, understanding that our inner transformations are reflections of the world around us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By applying this concept, we invite a continuous dialogue between our inner and outer worlds, promoting harmony that enhances our well-being and encourages us to live more consciously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>This is probably why the mind\/brain has evolved as such.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To deeply correspond with the environment is the optimal way to adapt to it \u2014 and thrive and survive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018Dependent arising\u2019 is part of that picture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Simply<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Simply put, this concept shows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>The broadness of <a href=\"https:\/\/aurelis.org\/blog?p=4629\">mental-neuronal patterns<\/a>, mutually overlapping on many levels<\/li><li>The fact that thoughts mainly arise from the subconceptual domain, even though the more conceptual side may lend some push or suggestion (being auto-suggestion).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Traditional Buddhism didn\u2019t know about neurons, synapses, mental patterns, etc. Also, many Buddhist writings \u2013 strangely \u2013 seem to not explicitly have made the fundamental move to inside in regard to dependent arising.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>So, into the direction of depth<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Going toward depth is going to where the dependent arising originates. This is also the aim of (Buddhist, Aurelian) meditation \u2014 not easy until it goes spontaneously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What one encounters there and then is oneself as a very dynamic, flexible entity. Any new thought, even any new mental pattern, is an act of the same principle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thus, we are the product of dependent arising \u2014 internally and externally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>That brings us to <a href=\"https:\/\/aurelis.org\/blog?p=4125\">Emptiness<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Which is, as you may know, another core Buddhist concept:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If everything depends on everything, then nothing exists by itself. Thus, in reality, nothing possesses an independent conceptual essence. Everything exists in a dynamic flux of interrelatedness, not in a void but in a continuous <a href=\"https:\/\/aurelis.org\/blog?p=5248\">stream of subconceptual non-consciousness<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>This may be hard to understand and even harder to realize.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yet we must do so. Our technological inventions are building an environment in which anything less is increasingly becoming unlivable.
