We are nature. The \u2018making\u2019 lies in the support of nature to further itself from inside out. Morality lies in the direction of this support within our natural constraints [see: \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/aurelis.org\/blog?p=952\">Morality Is the Relief of Suffering<\/a>\u2019].<\/p>\n<p>Nature doesn\u2019t like to be changed from outside. It does like to change (grow) from inside. This is the main reason for the <u>A<\/u>dopt, starting from what is already there.<\/p>\n<p><u>C<\/u>ombining \u2018things already there\u2019 then leads to new functionalities. For instance, humans have agile fingers, together with brains to conceptualize all kinds of stuff. As a result, I\u2019m typing this text on my computer. Hands nor brain have been developed in order to do this typing. The combination makes the opportunity.<\/p>\n<p>In the same example, both elements (brains and fingers) have been <u>E<\/u>nhanced just enough. Otherwise we would still use them to throw stones or make a primitive fire. Not to put blogs on the Internet.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Better person: ethics<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Morality <u>should not be<\/u> directed towards the making of ethically perfect people who are depressive or \u2018zombified\u2019 (not-un-happy but altogether soul-less, see Brave New World \u2013 A. Huxley).<\/p>\n<p>Morality <u>should be <\/u>directed towards the making of ethically sound, reasonably happy people <em>in depth<\/em>. \u2018Superficially happy\u2019 is, in my view, not enough. It doesn\u2019t satisfy me. Does it to you? In any case, the \u2018growth\u2019 aspect provides more inner space in which to be happy anyway.<\/p>\n<p>Little space, little happiness.<\/p>\n<p>Big space, big happiness and then a possible overflow of this into good deeds which are themselves filled with happiness, one way or another.<\/p>\n<p>ACE:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><u>A<\/u>: the person-as-is, is the basis of morality. We are nature.<\/li>\n<li><u>C<\/u>: living in groups, eventually one worldwide group, is a new element.<\/li>\n<li><u>E<\/u>: using the own nature as much as possible to live a good life in group, we can grow (enhance).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Better person: health<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The AURELIS striving goes towards healthy people in body and mind, enjoying life (<u>A<\/u> and <u>C<\/u>) and able to adapt (<u>E<\/u>) to changing circumstances.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>AUREL<u>IS<\/u><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Ethics and health come together into the \u2018better person\u2019, being better for all including oneself. This is what the end characters of AUREL<u>IS<\/u> are about: <u>I<\/u>nner <u>S<\/u>trength to be able to make a difference. Any small difference is OK; a big one can be made if the occasion arises.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>ACE leads to proper results within a synthesis of rationality and poetry.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>With the latter, I mean the \u2018poetry of life\u2019 in a very general sense.<\/p>\n<p>This combination assumes insight. Say: a lot of work. Needed because<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>without rationality, poetry leads to chaos<\/li>\n<li>rationality is in itself not complete without poetry since it\u2019s about the <em>complete<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Without this combination (synthesis), ACE can lead to very unseemly results.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Thus:<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&lt;Rationality+poetry&gt; is the goal, at the individual level <em>as well as<\/em> at the level of society.<\/p>\n<p>ACE is the instrument, used by nature.
