I utterly disagree.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Responsibility is not guilt<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Without free will<\/a>, you are not guilty. With free will, you are not guilty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Responsibility is something you can take within<\/em> any circumstance. If there is no free will, then you can take responsibility within that specific circumstance as in any other. You strive to do the best you can.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another take: it depends on \u2018you.\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Namely, on what you see as being \u2018you.\u2019 Being without free will within a narrow vision of \u2018you\u2019 can change by broadening this vision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For instance, you can see your consciousness as partly or fully determined by your non-conscious processing. Some see this as the end of free will since, this way, one cannot be consciously responsible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The latter is correct. However, broadening \u2018you\u2019 to incorporate your total mental processing leads to an essential change. If you then learn how to influence this \u2018deeper self<\/a>\u2019 (non-conscious mental processing), you gain free will together with concrete responsibility. You might already know that this is the aim of autosuggestion<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I acknowledge that this is not the easiest move.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Should that deter anyone?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another term for deeper self \u2013 as a direction, at least \u2013 is \u2018soul.\u2019 So, is your soul not worth the challenging consequence of gaining free will?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moral behavior<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another difficult term in this blog\u2019s title.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Accordance to the Ten Commandments as simply ten rules is as superficial as the idea of free will being either magical (thereby, not free) or non-existent (thereby, not free).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even a zombie can accord to ten rules this way, showing no moral behavior involved \u2014 nor free will.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Towards the breakdown of civil society?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Science increasingly shows that free will, in the colloquial meaning, is probably an illusion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fear exists that this may lead to immorality en masse. Unfortunately, that might well be the case, as we see it already happening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, there is no fundamental reason for it. Rational thinking shows that responsibility doesn\u2019t need free will. The issue that may lead to civil breakdown concerns responsibility, not <\/em>free will \u2014 again, of course, with responsibility not seen as a synonym for guilt, but quite the opposite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

People don\u2019t need to be protected against the \u2018reality of the inexistence of free will.\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the contrary, they need to be protected against the divulgence of untruths in the name of morality since that would be immoral to the highest degree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The five Aurelian values<\/a> are directly opposed to this \u2014 all five, in their correct interpretation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is no need for free will in moral behavior.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is just a direct need for moral behavior, for which you can choose even with \u2018you\u2019 in the sense of the entire universe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you put responsibility<\/em> there and yourself<\/em> here, you\u2019re avoiding your responsibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please don\u2019t.<\/p>\n
