However, in its one-sidedness, it\u2019s weird and wrong enough to call for a retake \u2014 if not reboot from the ground up. It\u2019s time for a new generation, a new awakening<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The mistake is between mere-ego and total self.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Other ways in other cultures. The West \u2013 the culture I know best \u2013 has incorporated the mistake almost everywhere. Thus, we have no complete rationality but mainly a mere-ego kind. Without any doubt, this makes us increasingly vulnerable to immense present-day and future challenges. We are facing dire consequences: unnecessary suffering and lack of inner growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Note that this is not about egoism versus altruism. It\u2019s about a basic view of the human being. The mistake is like that between a pond\u2019s surface and the entire pond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n One doesn\u2019t swim in a surface.<\/p>\n\n\n\n One doesn\u2019t see the entire pond (including its depth) from the border.<\/p>\n\n\n\n It\u2019s pretty obvious once you perceive what it\u2019s about.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Yet the mistake is everywhere.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n For instance, in Western science concerning anything related to the human being.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I frequently encounter the problem that many people from different fields make this mistake. That shouldn\u2019t be a surprise, but it makes it hard to change anything about it even in one corner of the building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Yet change is necessary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Other factors that come on top of the big mistake may weigh more because of it.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Here comes egoism, indeed, quite at the forefront. The urge to care only for oneself (or the small circle in which one views oneself) unmistakably accords with mere-ego. In contrast, the total self doesn\u2019t fit well in an ego bubble<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Again, they\u2019re not the same but readily close allies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Another ally is the lack of daring \u2014 plain old fear of what might happen when sticking out above the crowd. Given the involvement of depth, this fear can turn into anxiety. Unfortunately, this way, anxiety dictates society<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Also, the comfy numbness of many silly biases comes around the corner, ready to be used as preconceptions in order simply to stay fixed in a status quo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n – \u201cIt\u2019s them. Don\u2019t you see it\u2019s them? Always everywhere them?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Of course, it is not up to them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Is this hopeless?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n In principle, not at all, but hope exists only where enough people are daring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n It is up to us.
