However, (s)he should be able to \u2018not want to smoke anymore.\u2019 That\u2019s a <u>very<\/u>\u00a0different thing to do. It may not be straightforward, but is definitely worthwhile.<\/h3>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Don\u2019t \u2018quit\u2019<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Apart from, or entwined with the small chemical influence on the brain, a smoker smokes mainly because one way or another, the smoking \u2013 mostly non-consciously \u2013 \u00a0means something important to\u00a0him\/her <em><u>as total person<\/u><\/em>. This may for instance be a deeply connotated idea of \u2018being social\u2019 or \u2018being free to do what I want\u2019. It may be related to the time one started smoking or to some broader view of \u2018oneself as smoker\u2019, with or without being consciously aware of it. Anyway, the idea of quitting then <em>deeply inside<\/em> means losing something important.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Of course, this provokes resistance from inside yourself<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>mostly without knowing exactly where it comes from\u00a0(since it\u2019s \u2018non-conscious\u2019). Thus as a smoker, you may not find the motivation to quit \u2013 being to lose this important part of yourself. This is natural. Additionally, it\u2019s an important cause of relapse. You may recognize the feeling of \u2018getting caught up again\u2019 without <em>consciously<\/em> wanting to. The deeper longing is why. So, better not to \u2018quit\u2019 anything at all. The following may be a maxim on your way to not wanting to smoke anymore:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>zero tolerance for the idea of \u2018quitting\u2019.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>You might take a little more time to really let this pervade you now. Also, at some lost moments during the day, this may be your mantra: <strong>you do not \u2018quit\u2019 smoking nor anything else that is deeply related.<\/strong> Instead, you should evolve towards not wanting to smoke anymore. Most important on your journey is that you don\u2019t leave anything worthwhile behind. That and only that may be your truth. There should be <u>no<\/u> feeling of loss. Only then can you truly enjoy life as a non-smoker. Otherwise, it may be a continuous battle\u2026 against yourself.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Be very, very kind.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Don\u2019t coerce yourself. If you like to use self-discipline, then please do so. Anything goes, as long as you keep the feeling that you <em>don\u2019t quit anything important at all <\/em>in your change towards not-smoking.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Help is available.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Maybe you don\u2019t need it, then that\u2019s very good. But if you do, it\u2019s there.\u00a0Or better: <a href=\"https:\/\/opensmokefree.com\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>What matters is your happiness.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>You should be a happy person!<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Happiness comes with living according to your true values, being true to yourself, not leaving anything important behind, going forward to who you truly are, in totality. Your true values provide a flow upon which happiness can go to great length. Smoking or not smoking <em>in congruence to who you are<\/em> is an important element in this.<\/p>\n<p>Did I mention the word \u2018true\u2019 truly enough? Indeed this is of utmost importance. Do not lose who you are!<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>I would like a world in which no one smokes.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I would like this really very much.
